We carry out test and measurement work and also prepare opinions related to the present technology solutions in the field of boilers and their auxiliaries. We give opinions on modernization / investment assumptions and projects.

As an independent entity, we make tests and give opinions for PSE OPERATOR SA and Energy Regulatory Office which are necessary to undertake activities related to electricity delivery contracts or license applications, particularly in the scope of renewable energy sources.

Besides, we perform tests to determine bulk density and amount of coal stored at stockyards.

Depending on the needs and conditions, we carry out performance tests, tests before and after repair as well as operating (control) and optimization tests.

We test energy equipment according to Polish, European or American standards with respect to the arrangements with the Client. Every project involves the analysis of technical possibilities and on site conditions to meet the requirements imposed by the appropriate acts and regulations.

Tests of boilers

The scope of boiler tests and measurements comprises:

  • determination of the boiler efficiency and heat losses, including their comparison with the indicators obtained at similar plants and improvement proposals
  • development of the boiler heat balance
  • chemical analysis of fuel, sorbent and furnace wastes at Energopomiar’s Central Laboratory which holds the Accreditation Certificate No. AB 550 issued by the Polish Centre for Accreditation
  • determination of the boiler capacity and cycle agent parameters, including their comparison with the values obtained at similar plants and improvement proposals
  • determination of operation parameters of the mill installation, including their comparison with the parameters of similar installations and improvement proposals
  • determination of flue gas temperature and pressure distribution in the combustion chamber and flue gas ducts and the assessment of correctness and operating conditions of the heat transfer surface
  • determination of air temperature and pressure distribution on the way of its flow, including:
    1. measurements and calculations to determine the air balance and distribution
    2. determination of the boiler installation tightness, including the air heater, and the determination of leakage influence on correct combustion and heat transfer conditions
    3. tests of flue gas composition and noxious gas emissions into the atmosphere (C02, CO, NOx, S02)
    4. determination of the O2 or CO2 content distribution in the cross-section of the flue gas ducts
  • determination of velocity and pressure distribution in the air and flue gas ducts.

Tests of mills

The tests and measurements of mills determine:

  • characteristics of fuel feeders of the mills
  • efficiency characteristics of the mill
  • grinding quality and ventilation
  • pressure and temperature distribution in the mill set
  • electric energy consumption for grinding and ventilation
  • quality and quantity of wastes
  • division of the dust-gas mixture
  • mass and grain dust distribution for particular ducts or burner nozzles
  • dust velocity and concentration in the ducts.

Tests of fans

The scope of tests and measurements includes the determination of:

  • flow characteristics of the fans (capacity, impact, power, efficiency)
  • resistance characteristics of the air and flue gas networks
  • operating points of the fan
  • characteristics of control equipment of the fan
  • correct selection of the fan for the installations.

Tests to select the location of O2 and temperature probes

The purpose of tests is to indicate the optimum point for measuring the oxygen content or temperature in the ducts. The measurements are carried out for different boiler loads and different systems of operation of the mills. The indicated location of oxygen probes allows obtaining better data for operating the boiler and making current balance measurements by the operational control personnel.

Biomass – measurements, tests, consulting

Due to Poland’s accession to the European Union and signing the Kyoto Protocol concerning the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, Poland has implemented the acts and regulations relating to the utilization of renewable energy sources for electric energy and heat production.

The utilization of renewable energy sources for production is associated with the zero CO2 emission into the atmosphere. The employees of Energopomiar participate in the projects related to meeting the statutory requirements on biomass co-combustion and the evaluation of the influence of co-combustion on operating conditions of the plant.

Our services cover:

  • Selective analysis of biomass for co-combustion, including:
    • analysis of the chemical composition of biomass
    • analysis of the chemical composition of dust generated from biomass
    • evaluation of the influence of mixing primary fuel with biomass on the fuel supply and preparation installation
    • evaluation of the influence of co-combustion on operating conditions of the boiler and parameters of the produced steam (water)
  • Development of the biomass supply and calculation method for the present operational conditions at the plant
  • Sample collection, analysis and supervision over biomass and primary fuel co-combustion
  • Co-operation in preparing documentation necessary for extending the license for energy production from renewable energy sources
  • Opinions on the documentation for an application for extending the energy production license
